User testing

This week we started working on 3 main keys in our project, WriSet.

First technologically, we started working with teachable machine website which is a Google web-based tool that makes creating machine learning model. With this tool, we chose one wrist physical therapy exercise, wrist extension, and we teach it to the teachable machine using the webcam. After we created the wrist extension model, we tested it ourselves and found that it works.

Second, we started creating Adobe XD wire-frames for the WriSet desktop app. We created 2 types of wire-frames. one for the patient to perform the exercises that the physiotherapist calibrated to WriSet.

And one for the physiotherapist to check the progress of his patients' exercise and to calibrate physiotherapy exercises for his patients. It was important for us to create wire-frames that were not overloaded with information, accessible to both patients and physiotherapists and did not require them long time to operate.

Third, we stated preforming user testing with relevant patients and with physiotherapists. For the patients, our objectives were, first, to check their motivation level while using the wrist extension teachable model and the patient desktop app wire-frames. Second, to check the desktop app understanding level and the teachable model operation level.

For the physiotherapists, our objectives were, first, examination of what is the minimum time a physical therapist is willing to dedicate in making sure his patients performing the self-practice. Second, to examine the communication between the patient and the physiotherapist using WriSet. Third, examination of the Physiotherapist's dedication (time + planning and thinking) in calibrating the exercises to WriSet.

All the patients showed high motivation during the exercises with the teachable model and using the wire-frames. The physiotherapists said this type of treatment is good and can help improve patient responsiveness and persist in treatments. However, physiotherapists added that this type of treatment is very limited, and it is better to think of a broader type of therapy that is not just targeted to the wrist.

Next week, we look forward to continuing our user testing and in addition we are having speed mentoring to get more feedback and opinions from professionals to improve WriSet.
